GSC Research Symposium--Poster Session

                March 25-26, 2008

What Is It?

The student poster session is an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students to present their research to the entire university community. The poster session is a place for faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students to learn about other student research being carried out at Michigan Technological University. As inter-disciplinary research experience continues to increase in value, students with some exposure to diverse and unconventional approaches to scientific and academic study will have increased chances of professional success. The student poster session is a forum for students, faculty and administrators to learn about the exciting research happening within different disciplines at Michigan Tech. Research presented often stimulates discussion and the generation of new ideas.

Why Participate?

This poster session provides a wonderful opportunity to organize research into a presentable form, get quality feedback, and earn recognition. Collecting your information and organizing it helps keep your project focused and allows you and your advisor to step back and evaluate the progress of your research.

The faculty at MTU is among the best in the country. Likewise, the students at Michigan Tech are among the best and brightest of any research institution. Think of the poster session as a way to both recognize the incredible instructional guidance of your professors and to show the entire MTU community just how innovative and awesome YOU are. Presenting your research to other people and other disciplines is often the best way to gain exactly the kind of feedback that will allow you to complete professional quality research and is excellent training for the kind of multi-disciplinary interaction so highly sought after by both industry and academia in today's marketplace.

Invite your friends, your professors, your roommates, your advisor... come and support friends and colleagues who are presenting and ask them to come support you. Refreshments will be available throughout the event.

The excitement of academic inquiry and mutual interest in scholarly endeavors, corporate representatives will be visiting, and prizes include:
