GSC Research Symposium--Research Colloquium
March 25-26, 2008
Who Can Present?
The research colloquium is open to both graduate and undergraduate students who have conducted original research while attending Michigan Tech. Each presentation must consist of a written abstract and a presentation (15 minutes with 2-5 minutes for introductions and questions). The judging team consists of a multi-disciplinary group of researchers. Judges will evaluate students on their presentation skills and paper content.

- A chance to hear about the exciting research being conducted across campus at Michigan Tech.

Best Presentation
- First Place ($250)
- Second Place($200)
- Third Place ($150)
When is it?
Abstract Submission Details
Participants must limit abstracts
to one single-spaced page or less, printed in Times 12-point font. At the top
of the abstract the participant must include the paper's title, author's
name(s), major, and academic ranking (undergraduate, Masters, or PhD). Please
include the type of audio/visual equipment required. A booklet containing all
of the abstracts will be available at the colloquium.

or electronically in MS Word or Adobe .pdf format to Melissa Roberts, Colloquium Session

mtu.edu by 5:00pm Monday, March 3rd , 2008. No Late
Abstracts will be accepted.
Judging Criteria
Following are some things that
might be considered in evaluation of presentations:
· Demeanor-comfort and confidence
· Speech-clarity, volume, speed, and fluency
· Length-organization to fit the time constraint
· Questions-adequacy and intelligence of answers
· Organization-logical procession
· Professionalism
· Quality of
